The Social Innovation Incubator is part of Portland State’s social entrepreneurship program: Impact Entrepreneurs. Impact Entrepreneurs also houses the Entrepreneurial Leaders Program and Social Enterprise Tours.

This past Saturday, we hosted a conversation with academic social entrepreneurship pioneer, professor Greg Dees. We talked with Professor Dees about the meaning of social entrepreneurship, its history and what inspires him. We talked about reframing the question, “can social entrepreneurs make a big enough difference?” to “how can we enable social entrepreneurs to create large-scale change by developing the ecosystem that supports them?”

Professor Dees recently wrote a terrific article on the subject: http://whatmatters.mckinseydigital.com/social_entrepreneurs/creating-large-scale-change-not-can-but-how

We were thrilled to announce that Professor Dees will be joining the Impact Entrepreneurs Advisory Board. His guidance will be invaluable. It was a pristine sunny day, and the announcement capped off a perfect evening.
