Elevating Impact Stories: Andy Giegerich
Leading up to the Elevating Impact Summit on June 21, we’ve invited event speakers and panelists to engage in a storytelling project. We believe that storytelling is an essential part of effective social innovation. How can we tell stories in a way that generates interest and creates connections? How can we listen to the stories of others with the empathy needed to achieve true understanding? We hope that by sharing stories of failure, transformation and success, you’ll learn more about our speakers and the promise and challenges of social innovation.
Andy Giegerich answers the question, “What’s my source of personal motivation?” with a story about the importance of learning (and some musical backing):
“When I made it out in the real world, I did realize that it’s about how hard you work and how much you want to keep learning.”
Andy Giegerich has more than two decades of journalism experience under his belt. He spent nine years working for the Portland Business Journal, on his second stint with the paper, before taking the helm, as editor, of Sustainable Business Oregon in late February. Before that, he spent three years with the Portland Tribune and another year, in 2000, with the Business Journal. He also worked for several magazines and newsletters in Washington, D.C.
Andy will participate in the “Media for Impact” panel at the Elevating Impact Summit on June 21.
